Our Mission
KatKits' mission is to reduce overdose deaths by educating people about the prevalence and dangers of fentanyl in society, preparing them to identify and respond to an overdose, and normalizing naloxone as first aid.
Our Story
We started putting together these first aid kits with Naloxone in the summer of 2023, a few months after Kat (Sheila and Stagg’s daughter and Maggie’s sister), died from fentanyl poisoning.
In addition to some bandaids, ibuprofen, and menstrual supplies, we include Naloxone because in life, you will be exposed to many people and experiences. If someone around you should take a pill laced with fentanyl, ready access to Naloxone can save a life.
We know this is an uncomfortable and scary subject. It is also very important. When Kat died, she had a dose of fentanyl in her system that was about 15 times the lethal limit. The friends she used with were completely fine. We want to help keep you and your friends alive and safe.
Even if you never use any drugs, you may encounter someone experiencing an overdose. It is important to be able to recognize one if it happens near you. We want you to be prepared to save a life.
